St. Benedict Coffee Co. is a humble idea that became a reality. With a long history of trying different and new coffee shops, finding that coffee was always an opportunity to meet new people and foster deeper friendship, I desired to share my gifts of serving others, creativity and sharing stories, through a fun business adventure
In 2022 I began with an idea, our foundational values and a simple hope. Combining the beautiful story of a saint, the rooted value of ora et labora, “prayer and work”, brought me to an opportunity. Prayer, work, coffee and community. I got to work finding a truck and building a business.
Coffee As opportunity
Over years of hard work, trials and sufferings, coffee was consistent – it offered a feeling of warmth and energy, fueled the days AND NIGHTS of grueling work on the streets of Chicago and Austin, Texas. With prayer on my side and a warm cup of joe, the work was brutal, but fulfilling – believing always in the responsibility to serve and protect the community that I loved.
Faith, family & Community
As the days went by, there was a tug on my heart to reconnect with my family. As a father of nine children, the redirection was clear, my family needed me… my health. and my time. In a humble but difficult move, I stepped away from a beloved career that in many ways helped me realize the value of true, authentic relationships and decided to pursue a different way to serve the community and my family. We are grateful that you have joined us on this journey whether through happy accident or through decided intention, we are happy to serve you, share stories and deepen friendship.
